How to get to Valencia?
  • By Air: One can reach Leyte by taking a flight via Manila or Cebu. In Manila you need to transfer from the international airport terminal to the domestic airport terminal for a direct flight to Tacloban City, Leyte.
    From Tacloban, buses or vans travel to Baybay also every hour, traveling time is approximately 2.5 hours.
  • By Sea: If your flight is coming from Cebu City, you can take a taxi from the airport to the harbor/pier – You can choose to ride a passenger vessel via Ormoc City or direct to Baybay City. Make sure to check the schedule of the boats before making a plans.
    From Ormoc buses and jeepneys travel to Baybay which is about a 1-hour drive
What to see and where to go in Valencia?
  • Pulangi River – Ideal for fishing and boating, Pulangi River is on its way to regain its glory as the Save the Pulangi River program takes effect.
  • Mountain View College – Natural springs, falls, scenic landscape and great climate are just some of the things that describe this institution.
  • Salawaw Cave – An adventure for the spelunkers, Salawaw Cave features an impressive calcite formation and a cave pool that is part of a bigger cave stream. Large crickets of approximately 10cm in length and bats can be seen in the cave.
  • Kasanayan Cave – A huge beautiful cave in Valencia showcasing amazing stalactites of about 400 meters deep from the opening and an indoor river.
  • Lake Apo – Calm and serene, the lake is surrounded by hills and mountains lined by abundant plant life. Lake Apo has been hailed as a clean and green inland body of water in Northern Mindanao. It was also awarded as the Cleanest Lake in Region 10 during the late 90s.
What to eat in Valencia? (Local Delicacies)
  • Tapioca chips - is made out of the cassava root,which is cut into thin slices, deep fried and serve as snacks.
  • Pinya Podreda - is made of a thick homemade pineapple jam rolled into a flaky crust.
Local Festivals in Valencia
  • Golden Harvest Festival – Valencia City’s Golden Harvest Festival is a celebration that showcases different rice and corn products through village competition, float and cooking contest. Street dancing, tableau and a fashion show that exhibits the by-products of rice and corn are some of the highlights of the event.
